Abstract. ISO 13849-1:2006 provides safety requirements and guidance on the principles for the design and integration of safety-related parts of control systems (SRP/CS), including the design of software. For these parts of SRP/CS, it specifies characteristics that include the performance level required for carrying out safety functions. that each factor can take. A Risk Graph intends to make a graded assessment a hazardous scenario based on a series of parameters that represent those risk factors considering that there is not a SIF in place. The SIL is worked out selecting each parameter from a pre-determined set of values. Figure 4 shows an example of Risk Graph from ANSI/ISA 84.00.01 Part 3 [4].

For these parts of SRP/CS, it specifies characteristics that include the performance level required for carrying out safety functions. If an electromechanical position switch fulfils the requirements of ISO 13849-1, Annex K, then, due to EN ISO 13849-2, it is about a so called „well-tried component“.

The standard refers to the risk assessment to be conducted on the machine and to  12 Feb 2021 When a safety function is required for risk reduction a safety control Both IEC 62061 (SIL) and ISO 13849-1 (PL) specify requirements for the  a risk (risk assessment in accordance with EN 1050 or EN ISO 14121-1).
